The Gary in ApotheGARY
I've been making home fragrance products for about 15 years and will often wander around stores or places hunting for the scent that caught my nose. Covent Garden is my favourite place for this whenever I'm in London.
The power of scent has always intrigued me, aromas can create moods, make a moment, or unlock memories - which is where the tagline came from.
and the name? My friend always tells me I'm like the character David Rose from "Schitts Creek" - who owns a store called Rose Apothecary. Oh, how we laughed when I said 'ApotheGARY'.
The story so far
In 2015, I was diagnosed with a rare soft tissue sarcoma, and in the months after surgery and treatment, I wanted to create a little sanctuary in my home, and surround myself with luxury smells as an escape. Most products on the market were either vanilla, not very strong, or made from paraffin wax - a big no for me. So, I started creating plant based candles, melts, diffusers and room sprays.
In 2018 I closed the business so I could focus on property renovations. And yes, I regret it.
Fast forward to Autumn 2023, and a trip down memory lane sparked back the passion for quality scents and luxury products. A powerful memory was unlocked, and I wanted to start making home fragrance products again - because you guessed it, I didnt like pretty much everything on the market - weak scents, toxic ingredients, plastic everything.
After months of testing and tweaking and taking over the kitchen, my first product was ready - wax melts.
Hand poured in Lancashire, in small batches, using sustainable Soy wax, vegan, cruelty free, paraben & phtahalate free ingredients.
